Scope of the Programme

This event celebrates the successful coming to a closure of a significant Programme that has enhanced transparency, accountability, and institutional functionality, fostering citizens’ trust in public administration. The Programme is cofunded by the EEA Grants Financial Mechanism 2014-2021 and Greece. The EEA Grants represent the contribution of  Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway toward a green, competitive, and inclusive Europe.

Among the Programme’s key interventions are the digital transformation of Citizen Service Centers (KEPs), which improved their accessibility and operational efficiency; the expansion and capacity strengthening of the Greek Ombudsman’s services in collaboration with the EU Fundamental Rights Agency, enhancing citizen empowerment and institutional responsiveness; and the development of a robust anti-corruption framework as part of the National Transparency Authority’s strategy, in partnership with the OECD. These initiatives have collectively contributed to improving governance and strengthening citizen’s trust in the democratic institutions of Greece.

The achievements of the program and its impact will be discussed in a speech by the Secretary General of Public Administration, Mr. Ioannis Foustanakis, the Ombudsman, Mr. Andreas Pottakis, the Ambassador of Norway, Ms. Lajla Brandt Jakhelln, the Director of the Financial Mechanism Office of the European Economic Area (EEA) in Brussels, Ms. Ragna Fidjestøl, the Head of Strategic Planning and International Relations at the National Transparency Authority, Mr. Giorgos Kasapas, the Head of the National Contact Point for EEA Grants in Greece at the Ministry of National Economy and Finance, Ms. Ioanna Tzika, and Ms. Gillian Dorner, Deputy Director at the OECD, who contributed to the successful implementation of the program as an international partner.
